“Canned Libraries”

This article from the August 1936 edition of Modern Mechanix introduces the “canned library,” which boasts the ability to house the entire collection of the Library of Congress “in a few small filing cabinets!” This was supposed to “effect as big a change in the printing industry as the invention of movable type”…

I think I like the internet better.
