First LISSA Meeting of the Semester Today!

Good morning! I just wanted to remind everyone that the first LISSA meeting of the semester will be today in the LIS Lab in Curry 349H at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. If you have not joined LISSA yet, you can do so at that time. Also you do not need to attend the meetings if you are a member of LISSA. I, of course, want to encourage everyone to attend the meetings if you can, but they are not mandatory. I understand that many of you work and cannot make a 4:30 p.m. meeting. The minutes for each and every meeting will be posted on our LISSA Blackboard page and on our blog at http://lissaland.wordpress.com.

First LISSA Meeting and Event Scheduled

Greetings all, and Happy Fall Semester!

I just wanted to encourage everyone to join LISSA this semester, and I also wanted to let you know that we have scheduled our first meeting. The first LISSA meeting will be held a week from today on Monday, August 31 at 4:30 p.m. in the LIS Lab, room 349H in the beautiful Curry Building. We will be discussing the upcoming events for the semester. I hope everyone can attend. There will be light refreshments served.

Membership for LISSA will be $12 for the academic year and $8 for the semester. Membership forms are available in the LIS Department. We also have LISSA tote bags for sale for $12, along with LIS polo shirts for $15. The polo shirts are from a previous semester so sizes are limited. Men’s and women’s sizes are available. I have two XL and one L available in the men’s, and S, M and L are available in the women’s. Email me if you are interested in purchasing either.

Also LISSA is planning on touring the State Library and Archives in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, September 12. We will be meeting on campus at 8:30 a.m., and we will be carpooling. We need to be at the State Library and Archives at 10:30 a.m., and it takes approximately an hour and a half to get there from campus. Please let me know if you would like to join us and whether or not you would be willing to drive.

We have also scheduled a LISSA Happy Hour at Tate Street Coffee on Tuesday, September 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Please remember that Tate Street Coffee does not accept credit cards, they only accept cash. There is an ATM on site.
